Spring is right around the corner, is your garden prepared?
With the start of Spring just days away, now is the ideal time to start preparing your garden for this very active gardening season.
So, what are a few things you should be doing now so you are able to launch your spring gardening season successfully? Here are a few suggestions:
Inspect
The first thing you will want to do is get outside and do a deep dive inspection and fully analyze the area. Depending on where you live, cold, ice, and even snow could have damaged your plants and more than likely your beds will need to be cleaned out as plant debris probably surfaced over the winter. You will also want to check various hardscaping elements such as walls, fences, and sheds to see what condition they are in and if they need to be fixed or replaced.
Test Your Garden Soil
Now is also an ideal time to get your garden soil and see what nutrients or organic materials may be needed or has too much of. For example, by testing the soil you may learn that it is very high in phosphorous, which means will want to avoid using a fertilizer that contains a lot of it. Without testing though, you would have no way of knowing that.
Feed Your Soil
Once you know your soil’s test results, talk to a local garden center about which products you should be using to get the best results for the upcoming gardening season. They may suggest adding a topdress to the soil with a small amount of compost, humus, or manure.
Put Out New Features and Supports
Lastly, now is the ideal time to bring out trellises and stakes to make sure everything in the garden is nice and sturdy. It is also the ideal time to install new additions to your garden or around the exterior of your property including your new PLANTPOCKETS™.
PLANTPOCKETS™ are ideal for flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables, orchids, vines and other species of plants for gardeners and plant enthusiasts. They need very little maintenance and are knitted with our “ RIP STOP TECHNOLOGY” mesh to keep your plants cooler while keeping varmints and critters away and even use the herbs in recipes.
